help with linux and speakup?

Another solution is to have a second hard-drive added to your computer
and then install Linux on to the second drive. This will help you avoid
having to tamper with the existing drive and data.

There is good documentation on The Linux Documentation Project, 
http://www.tldp.org 
Look for the how-to section, and then do some digging around in there.
There are some on what you are attempting to do as well as some on
windows and dos syntax to Linux syntax for people just starting out like
yourself.

I could pull out a few links if you like, but there as I don't know your
background, it would be better for you to go and have a look around.
