Fedora, disk -99 error

Seems like that error -999 has been there for a very
long time now.
I also could not install Speakup's FC-5 at all.
Some people seem to have luck if they access the DVD
from a networked system; however not all of us have
more than one PC handy to do that kind of install.
I just do not understand why Speakup's installation
works this way.
I have, however, installed the Fedora Core version of
FC-6. I was very disappointed that many of the
Preferences applications do not function properly.
Some are very sluggish to respond, some do not seem to
work at all. It is a problem that FC people are aware
of.
I did not encounter this with FC-5, so I am not going
to use FC-6 until more information is forthcoming.
I was going to practice installing the Speakup Orgs
special FC-6 kernel and teach myself how to toggle
between it and the original kernel.
