Thanks, I actually had the idea to look through the config options of
a 2.6.16.x kernel, and found it there.

However, I still can't locate it in a 2.6.17.6 kernel:

    IP: AH transformation (INET_AH) [M/n/y/?]
    IP: ESP transformation (INET_ESP) [M/n/y/?]

Am I missing something, or has it actually been taken out? Is it back
in kernels newer then 2.6.17.6, (I know 2.6.17.7 is out already)?
