There is a net install CD with a speakup kernel included, in fact it has 
two speakup modified kernels, a 2.4 and a 2.6. But if you can't do a net 
install you might need to install it first the hard way, and then 
replace the kernel with a speakup modified substitute. I am fortunate to 
have a broadband cable connection here and have always been able to do a 
net install.
