Listen-Up and CVS

Well, the CVS route worked good; guess nothing has been done with it
since 2003.  I wonder where I can start debugging this thing.  As of
right now, I can't use this program at all.  I can't open any books; I
get no book titles, no chapter list or anything.  Theonly thing I've
been able to do is toggle between navigation and menu mode.  I really
don't know where to begin.  I do programming but haven't a clue where to
start with this fairly complex looking thing.  

Again, does anyone the list use Listen-up at all? anybody have it
working at all?
