Getting speakup to work with software speech

Hi,
It is me you might be thinking of.
Write me off-list with the following info:
1.  Which linux distribution are you funning?
2. Have you already compiled speech-dispatcher?
3.  Have you already compiled speechd_up?
If all the answers is yes, you only need to give the following command 
extra to the instructions I gave you:
mknod /dev/softsynth c 10 26
Then run software_speech
To the others on the list, I gave some scripts and instructions to Darragh 
privately.

This include some wrapper scripts and the configuration files for 
speech-dispatcher to make viavoice work with speakup.
It is not that streamlined, but if some of you want to try it, you should 
still be able to download the 24 megabyte file from:
ftp://ftp.icomtek.csir.co.za/pub/in/wvdwalt/speech.tgz
Extract it anywhere with tar zxvf speech.tgz.  It creates a directory 
called speech.
There is a rough README trying to explain what should happen next.
