OT: Lynx exiting with signal 11

I believe gentoo recently updated my lynx; otherwise I don't know why I 
would have this problem though I do believe I've seen it briefly before.
I'm using 2.8.5rel1 and with no warning, either when I left arrow to go 
back or hit enter to go to a new link, I find myself back at the sell 
prompt and am told that lynx has exited with signal 11.

I just built lynx 2.8.6.dev11 and don't seem to have any such problems. 
I do notice that the only difference between the two when I call them 
with --version is that the version I downloaded and compiled mentions 
ncurses while the version gentoo downloaded and installed does not.
I do indeed have ncurses installed.
Any ideas? Since the dev version is working for me I could just scrap 
the one that isn't working, but I'd like to know what's wrong.
