speakup and bitchx

hi, is there any way to get speakup to work confertably with bitchx? or is
there another irc client i should try? what about an aim client? also, can i
use a libgtk package from slackware to install on my debian box? cause
debian sarg doesn't seem to have gtk when i do apt-get install libgtk. cause
alot of progs i want to install ask for the gtk. thanks
