Sounds like what you are looking for is the output of "dmesg".

When the system boots up you can do something like: "dmesg > 
/tmp/dmesg.out" and then you can review dmesg.out to see all the 
hardware and bootup messages.  Perhaps this is what is also referred to 
as power up messages.
