update

Here is an update on my installation of debian.  A friend dropped by
last night and while she was there, I asked her to read the bios screens
to me.  Thus, I was able to change the boot sequence and got my system
to boot from the cdrom drive first.  Everything was quite smooth from
there including using speakup during the debian installation.  So now
its installed and I'm trying to learn more about how things work in the
linux world.  Wish me luck.
