Installing linux using speakup?

I am strongly considering to install linux on my old computer at home
which currently runs windows 98.  That machine has a dectalk pc in it.
Will this work for a speech synth with speakup especially during the
installation?  Also, where can I find instructions on how to install
linux using speakup to speak during the installation prompts?
