If you have speech in the console, I suggest going ot the console, and 
running festival --tts. This will gie you blank lines in which you can 
type words, and Festival should speak them back to you. If you hear 
something, then there is something else wrong somewhere.

If it is what I am thinking it is, then you will have to edit a festival 
file to fix it.

Try adding this line to your /etc/festival.scm file

(defvar server_access_list '(localhost.localdomain)

Then try running Gnopernicus with Festival again.
