First, if you have Linux installed and have root privileges on your own 
home system you are a sysadmin.  You administer the system in your home. 
Fetchmail a linux application can be made to work with procmail another 
linux application and procmail has lots of tutorials on the web and lots 
of 3rd party support on the web and eve its own mailing list and that can 
be made to delete spam.  You will have to learn procmail recipe writing 
though to do it. Second sugarplum locateable on the free software 
foundation site in all files directory.  It deals with spam in a 
completely different way.  How spammers get addresses is they use robots 
like cherry picker among others to access your computer and get the email 
addresses copied off and load those into spamming databases.  sugarplum is 
supposed to recognie these robots and takes over first blocking the robots 
from getting to your email addresses and second by poisoning the spammer's 
databases by sending so much meaningless data back into them that large 
parts of those databases have to be removed after those databases get 
sorted.  You continue to run sugarplum on your system and in a little 
while orders will get generated by the spam robots to remove your system 
from any future searches.
