Speakup on Other Unix Operating Systems

Thanks for the quick response.  I think I will probably use Linux and ssh in
the beginning at least.  Since I already know how to do this, it will mean
less work.  I know we discussed yasr before, but I haven't been able to look
into that.  I feel much better about just sticking with speakup and using
ssh for this.<smile>

Hi.

Since speakup is a patch to the Linux kernel, it will only work on Linux
systems.
Your choices for screen readers are yasr or brltty.  I haven't ever managed
to get yasr's DECtalk driver to work, so you will probably end up using
flite for the synth with yasr.
Your other option would be to do everything on an ssh session from a Linux
box.  Then, you can use speakup on the Linux system.
