Getting mutt to save messages to maildirs

Wait, maybe I'm the one who's unclear this morning ...
Are you saying you want mutt to store mail in maildir format not mbox?
There's a setting for that. From the Mutt Reference Manual:
mbox
Type: path
Default: "~/mbox"
This specifies the folder into which read mail in your ``
[89]$spoolfile'' folder will be appended.
mbox_type
Type: folder magic
Default: mbox
The default mailbox type used when creating new folders. May be any
of mbox, MMDF, MH and Maildir.
