Cell Phone Modem

One thing you might consider is an unlimited cellular internet access
account, from T-Mobile, or one of the other companies (I mention T-Mobile,
because I sell that service, and know that the card they use for the GPRS
connection, works in Linux).
76K, $29 plus tax per month (from T-Mobile, anyway; Sprint, AT&T, etc., do
similar things, although they limit your hours, and cost more).
They use the Sieara Wireless Aircard (PCMCIA) for access, and there is a
Linux PCMCIA data file that works for it.
