Yeah, Sure

You know, the old "mailer-daemon" approach to sending malware has been
around for a while -- I have gotten a lot of them -- but it's funny it
should have come to her purportedly from "rednote support" -- quite
hilarious...
Also, I've gotten virus mail on windows that spread by picking a random file
name from a person's "My Documents" folder and emailing it with a little
request to give feedback -- the things that raised a red flag about this
were the double extension of the attached file, and also the fact that the
request was in very poor English.
The thing that annoyed me most about windows when I moved to it was the
hiding of extensions -- and not only the folder option that hid extensions
of known file types, but also the added suppression of certain file types
marked with "NEVERSHOWEXT" in the registry. I got bitten by that -- and I
run pretty cautiously, if that's possible on windows -- and have been
furious at windows since, for trying to be simple for the non-techies,
powerful for the legitimate software developers, and secure -- and you can't
really do all three very easily.
Anyway, I can't wait to get back on linux.
More on that in the next post...

Got some malware this morning that just made me laugh. I've not seen one
like this before and just wanted to share it.
Of course, there's undoubtedly a malicious payload. In my situation it's
funny because I am "rednote.net," and I am "the rednote support team,"
and Chief Cook, and Bottle Washer, etc.
