Reading behavior of festival.

Dear Friends,
While testing festival 1.4.2 which came by default with FC2 I noticed
following.
When I give the following command
festival --TTS filename
it is reading nicely with clarity.
but when I give like this:
festival -TTS filename.c
or
festival -TTS filename.cpp
then festival is not reading all punctuations and special symbols like
{ } : ; etc.
Now my question is
how should I make festival to read punctuations and special symbols?
