I think I have the request_irq working for the Dectalk again, so
hopefully I can get it in today...

Haha, thank you very much for the kind words Chuck.  There are still a
few buglets left to be squashed in that last check in and Mike needs
to put the request_irq() stuff back in for the continuous reading mode
but it seems to work okay for most situations.
