flite alternatives ?

Hello,

While looking for speech possibilities on my computer, I stumbled on flite.
It has two in my opinion serious drawbacks: it's got a rather annoying 
American
accent and it only pronounces English texts correctly.
Are there any alternatives that have a British accent and preferably also 
speak
Dutch, German and Vietnamese?
I'm still fighting with my health insurance about a hard-ware speech 
synthesiser...
