Is it possible to make grub talk like it is with lilo? I would like
to switch to grub on my Slackware 10 box but notice that some
suggested setups of grub should occur while in grub's own
environment. That's why I want to know about getting grub to talk
before speakup comes into the picture.

Also, I would like to dual boot between win2k and linux; any example
grub.conf files out there I could look at that clearly do this? I'm
wanting to do this because I've apparently run into some size
limitation issues with lilo on my 80 gig hard drive even with LBA
being specified.
