screan reader questions

Hi All,

I've been using Speakup with Speech Dispatcher,
Speechd-up, and flite.  The only problem is that
speech doesn't respond fast enough when typing.  There
is a delay between the time I type something and when
I hear the speach.  Is there a way I can improve the
response time?
