converting cds to ogg or mp3

Thanks to Shaun for the slackware packages, and to everyone else who
responded with suggestions.

On a somewhat different note, is there a player for ogg files that
will let me skip around in the file, pause it, and skip forward to the
next file if I give it "*" as the input file name, like mpg123 does?
Ogg123 seems to be rather limited in its functionality. Thanks.
