Don't know. You could create it however with:

mknod /dev/ttyS0 c 4 64

Well, if you know what command you're looking for, you could type man
commandname, and you'll get the manual page for commandname. For
example

man mknod

would give you the mknod manual page.

As for learning about using the system in general, I found the
documentation at 

http://www.tldp.org

to be helpful. I also seem to recall that debian's site has a wealth
of documentation specific to debian, though I didn't look at that
much, since debian was not my first distro, and I already new in
general what I was dealing with.
