Ah, ok. Login as root, and type the following:
mknod /dev/ttyS4 c 4 68
Now, you should have a ttyS4 file in your /dev directory, and you
should be ready to try ppp_on again.
As for why you don't have a ttyS4 file, your guess is as good as
mine. Perhaps whoever created the /dev devices in debian, assumed that
you would only have 4 serial ports, which makes sense if you think
about it I guess.
