alphas and linux

Actually, there is a version of Windows NT 4 that runs on the Alpha
processor but Microsoft gave up on this venture after NT.

An alpha is a computer manufactured by DEC. You need special OS's for this
since the OS's you are probably used to don't run on the alpha processor.
Many varients of Unix do, and the Linux kernel can also run on this
processor. However, Windows does not.
