alphas and linux

What's so special about this processor? I've seen talk about it on other
sites and lists also, and I was just wondering.

Hmm...i was talking about the alpha.
the alpha was a line of cpu's made by digital starting in the early
90's. I'm not sure if they're still made but they were more common in
servers and high-end workstations then pc's.
