OT: Lynx, Linux, and file downloads

Um yah, okay, that worked.  It is still not "the" solution, however, as I 
can conceive of circumstances (cgi) in which that won't work.

Why does not lynx under debian behave as does lynx under pretty much 
everything else?  Obviously some configuration or compilation issue, but 
quite strange.
