Printing under CUPS

I just installed CUPS, Ghostscript, and the necessary X library
support for my slackware 9.1 to print to an HP Deskjet 812C printer.
CUPS seems to be working well and that web interface is down right
slick! But when I print things, The printed image is somewhat
oblitterated.  The text is barely readable.  no known errors.  Any
ideas?  Anyone else here experience any troubles with this?
