rescue disk

I made a CD of the rescue disk, and I thought it was supposed to be speakup
enabled.
Can someone give me the boot-up information to make it speak?
I have tried:
speakup_synth=dectlk
and the same with text in front of that.
I only get the message:
kernel image not found
or something like that.
