Are ICMP packets important?

Thanks for that. Terry also was able to ping me. I can't ping
out, but folks can ping me okay. Very peculiar.

Where did you get the email you seem to be responding to below?
It is a couple years old from an ISP I no longer have. Did it
come from your email archive?

And I see no "nmap" report.
