I have done this lsmod stuff last night, to find that it does not seem to be 
there/loaded.
At least it does not show up.
But I do seem to remember it beinging detected originally.

Yes, but that didn't answer the question. Is it loading was the
question:

lsmod |grep snd

should show you everything loaded that's sound related.
