Given the fact that you had a power serge, and that your blt is doing the same thing in windows, the problem is most likely with your unit. Here are my recommendations on what you should do. You might, or might not have tried some or all of these.

1. Do a warm reset on your blt. To do this, hold down all 7 keys while you are in a file, and the unit is turned on. It will ask you "warm reset, please verify", and you should then press all 7 keys again.

2. If the warm reset above didn't help, try a cold reset. To do this, turn off your blt, hold down all 7 keys, and turn on the power while still holding down all 7 keys. Let the keys go after a couple of seconds once you've powered the unit on, and the unit should be reset at that point.

3. If that still didn't work for you, backup all files, and try a hard reset. Warning, this will erase all your data, so be sure to backup your files before you do it. Turn off your unit. Hold down an i-chord while you power on your unit, and answer "y" to all the prompts (I.E. reinitialize file system, reinitialize flash system, and reinitialize folder system).

4. If that still didn't fix it, try to reflash your unit's firmware. The latest firmware update for your unit is free (provided that you have a blt18, or blt40, not a blt me) from the fs web site.

5. If you're still reading, have tried all the resets, and have reflashed your firmware, call up FS tech support, get an RMA number from them, and get your unit serviced.

Hth.
