mp3 splitting

Hmm I'd say there are several ways to do this. Use split, and figure out 
the ending offset of each Mp3, then pass that info onto split. Another 
way is using Awe (first decode the big mp3 file to wav), and then mark 
the start and ending points at which to split the files.
