Hello, Grant,
On my system, using the U.S. Robotics Performance Pro
modem, it is located in /dev/ttyS4 (that's actually com5 in Linux
speak). Try looking through your dmesg output, where the serial driver
innitializes itself. If you can't find it there, perhaps your particular
brand of modem is a WinModem, in which case you should consult
www.linmodems.org to see if drivers are available. HTH.
