Hmm. My best guess is that they are usable, but not as early in the boot 
process as say...An onboard serial port. Unless one can find a way to 
get the USB subsystem to initialize with the serial ports, I think 
there's going to be little usefulness for these converters as an onboard 
serial port replacement.
