OT: Laptops that Linux likes?

the two machines I know linux likes are the dell latutide series and 
the ibm thinkpad.
I installed linux on a latitude  cpts and linux detected all the 
hardware (sound, nic, modem, etc) without me even needing to do 
anything. the distro I used in this case was slackware 9.0.

I've also heard that the thinkpad series are supposed to run linux 
cleanly as mandated by IBM but I may be wrong. I have a thinkpad here 
that I considered installing linux on but I don't have a supported nic 
for it.
