Why do I say "rocket scientist?" Because audio is complicated, very complicated. And, powerful tools will provide mechanisms to do things with each aspect of sound that can be independently controlled. The list would be very long.

So, why do I say "rocket scientist?" Because I suspect the conversation has been a bit naive. I don't disagree that there are useful GUI applications that do things we might want to do. But, complaining they don't come with CLI interfaces, when available CLI applications that do the same and nearly the same, is just wrong headed.
