audacity and speakup?

Hi,
I would go one better,
why not, given the willingness and creative flexibility
of those in writing this program
ask that an edition of audacity be written
that is consol based?
My understanding is that Linux was to be accessible,
and given the power of this program it would be nice to
have.
Ideas?
