Here is what happens after I got most of the updates, and after I ran
apt-get upgrade and got all 90 something packages.

Now when I run apt-get update this happens.

apt-get update

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old
ones used
 instead.

And when I run apt-get install gnome, I receive

apt-get install gnome

Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Package gnome has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and
never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents
of sources.list
However the following packages replace it:
  gnome-utils gnome-media libcapplet0
  control-center
E: Package gnome has no installation candidate

I humbly declare that I am doing something wrong, so can someone please
correct me.

Thank you,
Sina
