qmail compile problem

Well looks like I will have to upgrade my ld. I currently have gcc-3.3 and
ld 2.12.90.0.1 20020307

I did everything as directed in the INSTALL that came with Qmail-1.0.3.
Not sure where ld is failing. Anyone have any ideas?
