Problems With Creating A List

I sent this before but it bounced.
I am trying to create a maling list using mailman which I just installed.
It won't let me use the web interface because of a bug that it claims has
information in a log file that doesn't exist, so I am using the newlist
script.  Here is what it does.  In short, it craps out.  Here is the script
