multiple versions of redhat?

Hello,
I was just thinking about this.

Is it possible to have multiple versions of redhat on the same system?

For example I have a system with rh 8.0 just about configured the way I want
it. I still need to run rhas 2.1 for some of my testing.

Is it possible to have these two version co-exist on the same system?

I know the kernels can both be present, but what about the supporting
applications that go in places like /usr/bin, /usr/local/bin etc.
