Hi Charlie,

There are many web sites you can use to test bandwidth.  Of course, your
results will certainly vary from site to site.  It is also the case that
many of these sites require "show pictures" to be active in your browser in
order to provide a report, since they upload and download images in your
browser as part of the testing they perform.  If you have Windows 2000 or
XP, then you can take a look at some of the counters available under
Administrative Tools in the control panel.  Specifically, you're looking for
"Performance Logs and Alerts" or just a shortcut to "Performance" in the
case of Windows XP.  You can use ifconfig and various related tools in Linux
to obtain the same type of information about the amount of input and output
over Ethernet interfaces.
