Hi Gregory,
Would formatting it while in windblows also make it un-usable by Linux?
My CDs all come unformatted.

No, you don't want to make the cd readable, since that only works under wind
blows as far as I know.
If this is a cdrw, then you need to erase or as you put it format it before
writing to it if it has been written to before.
