login issues with new install of redhat 8

Hey gang, i got redhat installed with speakup, and everything boots until it comes to a point where it loads all the various packages.
It tells me it is booting up various packages.  
Then i get to a blank screen and can't do anything. When i hit the number 8 key on the keypad it says    blank.
It appears that the system booted just fine, but why isn't speakup finding a login screen?
Any ideas?
