emacs and the blind community

just a quick question? is emacs commonly used among blind people? in my
oppinion, i don't like it - one reason is because i don't like lisp. and
emacs has several severe limitations, like windows, that prevent it being
used with speech.
i guess i should say stalls, not prevents. with emacspeak, it doesn't really
speak everything. similar to how windows doesn't speak its own error
messages.
and, it sometimes speaks too much. you can't have two things going on at
once (two downloads, etc). emacs has its advantages,
e.g. multi-file editing, buffer names instead of sesion numbers, etc.
but -- i'm just wondering how prevalent the use of emacs is among speakup
users, and other screen-access users.
i don't just say speakup users - since there are people out there that use
other speech access products. i'm still using a serial terminal, with screen
power for dos. that seems to be abandoned, and i can't find a copy anywhere
on the web. luckally i had a small hard drive on that machine, so just can
back it up.
amazing how much software gets abandoned, and demos are floating out there.
