Well, Kathy, I've never heard of Norpix.  I have heard of Red Hat,
Debian, Slackware, but not Norpix.   There are bootable images you can
download from the speakup site:

http://www.linux-speakup.org

They all have Speakup built into them.  That's your best bet, I
think.  

There are a lot of folks on the speakup list who can help you better
than can I.  So, I am CC'ing the list now.  I think it's great you
want to try Linux.    I'm sure someone will write back and help you
out.
