dectalk express receiving errors

Hello,

While I was installing redhat 8.0 yesterday using speakup and a dectalk
express, periodically I would get the message

"error control00" this happened every minute or two throughout the
installation process.  It didn't seem to be related to any particular
activity on the computer, or to any particular keystroke(s) I was entering.

Any ideas?
