about to upgrade linux

Hello.  I have red hat 7.2 and am about to upgrade to red hat 
8.0.  Everything is on one partition, but I want to just erase everything 
and have the system on one partition, and my data on another.  Before I do 
this, how can I back up my boot up file that makes speakup talk from bootup 
until login?  Where would I find that file?  Anyone is welcome to write me
